David Stanley Gebhard Award

MNSAH biannually presents the David Stanley Gebhard Award-established in 1997 in memory of the Minnesota-born architectural historian-to the best book and/or article on the subject of the state’s built environment. The next awards will be given out in 2010.

WINNERS OF THE 2008 GEBHARD AWARDS

At the Annual Meeting of MNSAH, the following awards were made:

The David Stanley Gebhard Book Award is for the work, St. Paul’s Architecture, by Jeffrey A. Hess and Paul Clifford Larson, published by the University of Minnesota Press. Honorable Mention was awarded to Larry Millet’s AIA Guide to the Twin Cities , published by Minnesota Historical Society Press in 2007.

This year’s award for best article goes to Greg Gaut and Marsha Neff for their “Save the Lady: The Struggle for the Winona County Courthouse,” published in Minnesota History , Winter 2005-2006. Honorable Mention went to Greg Brick for “St. Paul Underground: Stahlmann’s Cellars: The Cave Under the Castle,” published in Ramsey County History , Spring 2006.

Gebhard Award Winners have been named for 2008.
